Ken Paxton talks tough on the border — but behind the scenes, he was cutting checks to some of the most radical organizations in Texas.
Over $7 million in taxpayer-funded grants from Paxton’s Office of the Attorney General (OAG) went to groups that:
Help illegal immigrants fight deportation
Train clients how to resist ICE
Oppose Governor Abbott’s border security operation
Provide DEI training
Offer gender ideology programs for kids as young as 7
And the worst part? Ken Paxton could’ve stopped it. Instead, he paid for it.
The Left-Wing Grants Paxton Approved
American Gateways $252,539
Provides legal aid to illegal immigrants, works in detention centers, and instructs people on how to avoid ICE compliance.
Paxton gave them 67 grants, then later announced an investigation into them for “facilitating the invasion” at the border.
Grassroots Leadership $15,000
Runs the “ICE Out of Austin” campaign, opposes deportation, and called for the end of Gov. Abbott’s Operation Lone Star.
Also, publicly mobilized volunteers against the Trump administration.
Texas Civil Rights Project $415,874
Supports policies that weaken border enforcement and advocates to eliminate barriers to migration.
Runs the “Beyond Borders” campaign opposing federal immigration laws.
Legal Aid of Northwest Texas $2,281,633
Offers legal support to non-citizens, undocumented immigrants, and asylum applicants.
Texas RioGrande Legal Aid $2,135,753
Represents illegal immigrants in deportation and asylum cases. Received 173 grants from Paxton’s office.
Montrose Center (LGBTQ+) $744,604
Offers gender-affirming care programs for children as young as seven, funded through OAG grants.
Tahirih Justice Center $251,318
Advocates for immigration policies that separate police from ICE and weaken federal-local cooperation.
Paxton said he was fighting the Left. Instead, he funded it
While Paxton’s office funded these groups:
He claimed to oppose sanctuary cities and amnesty
He said groups helping illegal immigrants were “facilitating the invasion”
He sued NGOs his office helped fund
He joined Trump’s deportation agreement… but gave grants to groups fighting it
