When he got in legal trouble, he didn’t call conservative legal warriors. He brought in a legal team with ties to liberal donors, former Democrat prosecutors, and Washington insiders.
When his office needed help, Paxton hired firms that fund liberal causes. When he gave out grants, they went to groups that oppose Republican values.
This isn’t conservative leadership. It’s legalized betrayal.
Paxton’s Left Wing Legal Team
A shadow legal army, handpicked to protect his interests, not yours.
Paxton’s criminal defense team includes lawyers with ties to the Clinton DOJ, the Obama-era Justice Department, and left-leaning legal coalitions.
One of his lead lawyers, Bill Mateja, worked under James Comey.
Another lawyer, Philip Hilder, is a former federal prosecutor and co-chair of the ABA’s National Institute on Securities Fraud, a group that has long advocated for stricter regulation and federal control.
Paxton also brought in Terri Moore, a former government attorney in Dallas and Tarrant Counties, both Democrat-run jurisdictions. She calls herself a "Kojack Democrat" and has donated to liberal causes.
Ken Paxton also hired Dan Cogdell as his defense attorney, even though Cogdell is currently representing the East Plano Islamic Center development project, which Paxton himself admitted was a conflict of interest as that group is under investigation by Ken's office.
Conservatives don’t cut checks to the swamp. Paxton does.
